What is a Blockchain? It is the question that many users ask me privately in my social networks, and sometimes, its terminology brings them extremely differential confusion and more if they are not associated with the field of cryptocurrencies or Web3. But today I will come to explain WHAT IS A BLOCKCHAIN and how its use creates a technological-social impact in this computerized and abundant world of digital systems.
¿Qué es una Blockchain? Es la pregunta que muchos usuarios me hacen al privado en mis redes sociales, y a veces, su terminología les trae una confusión extremadamente diferencial y más si no están asociados al campo de las criptomonedas o la Web3. Pero hoy vendré a explicar QUÉ ES UNA BLOCKCHAIN y cómo su uso crea un impacto tecnológico-social en este mundo informatizado y abundante de sistemas digitales.
In its most basic definition, a blockchain is a digital ledger of transactions that can be used to store information and accounting records in an incorruptible protocol. This means that any data stored there can never be modified and both the sender and receiver of that information can be viewed.
En su definición más básica, una blockchain es un libro de transacciones digitales que puede ser usado para almacenar información y registros de contabilidad en un protocolo incorruptible. Esto significa que todo dato que allí se guarde no podrá ser nunca modificado y se podrá visualizar tanto el emisor como el receptor de dicha información.
Each of these transactions has a timestamp associated with it and is linked to a user or node that, when several transactions are created, a block is created and each block is arranged chronologically in a chain one after the other as they are created, hence the name BLOKCHAIN (block chain).
Cada una de estas transacciones tiene asociada una marca de tiempo y están vinculadas a un usuario o nodo que, al conformar varias transacciones se crea un bloque y cada bloque se ordena cronológicamente en cadena uno detrás de otro según se vayan creando, por eso el nombre BLOKCHAIN (cadena de bloques).
Nodes are represented by computers or mobile devices (smartphones) used by users on the Internet between users connected to the same network, which contain all the transaction history on a particular blockchain.
Los nodos están representados por computadoras o dispositivos móviles (teléfonos inteligentes) que usan los usuarios en Internet entre usuarios conectados a la misma red, quienes contienen toda el historial de transacciones en una cadena de bloques en particular.
To add a new block, all nodes in the network must verify it through a consensus protocol and, once added to the chain, the information cannot be modified or deleted, thus creating a reliable and transparent record of transactional information (Blockchain: Disruption, Value and Security, 2022).
Para agregar un nuevo bloque todos los nodos de la red deben verificarlo mediante un protocolo de consenso y, una vez agregado a la cadena, la información no se puede modificar ni eliminar, creando así un registro confiable y transparente de información transaccional (Blockchain: disrupción, valor y seguridad, 2022).
Here, each node has its own copy of the ledger, and each time someone adds a new transaction, all copies of the ledger are updated, thus achieving an efficient and immutable record of data.
Aquí, cada nodo tiene su propia copia del libro, y cada vez que alguien añade una nueva transacción se actualizan todas las copias del libro logrando con ello un eficaz e inmutable registro de datos.
